Tricia Smout’s Residency Update

Tricia was the Guest Speaker at our QSWFA Saturday meeting in October last year. She talked about what she had done during her year as the Artist-in-Residence at Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha. Back then, most of the projects she showed were not fully completed, even though it was only a month until her final exhibition!

If you didn’t have a chance to get to either Richard Randall Studio or the Auditorium last November to see them, or if you’d like another look, here’s your opportunity.

Tricia will be the guest speaker at two upcoming ATASDA meetings (Brisbane & Toowoomba). Everyone is invited, and you don’t have to be a member of ATASDA (the Australian Textile Arts & Surface Design Association) to attend.

Saturday 14 September, 10.30am – 3pm
Tricia’s talk will probably be about 1pm, but the projects will be on display all day) at Lavalla Centre, 58 Fernberg Rd, Paddington. Normally this ATASDA meeting would be on 7 September, thus clashing with the QSWFA AGM, but due to the election it has been postponed a week, therefore a great chance for QSWFA members to come along!

Saturday 19 October, 10:30am – 2pm 3pm
Tricia’s projects will be on display all day at the Masonic Hall, 58 Neil Street, Toowoomba.

At both ATASDA meetings, as well as seeing Tricia’s work, you can enjoy morning tea (BYO lunch), see a showcase of members’ amazing textile artworks, get information about ATASDA workshops, and win raffle and lucky door prizes. A great day out – PLEASE COME!

Many QSWFA members contributed to several of Tricia’s projects (Flowers of Friendship hangings, webs, decorated envelopes, etc), so come along so Tricia can thank you personally. Please spread the word amongst your friends!

For all enquiries, please phone Tricia on 3379 1406, or email Tricia directly.
