Book and Paper Group – November Activities

Book & Paper Group was turned on its head this month, firstly because Tricia for the first time in living memory wasn’t there. Tricia was instead manning her show in the Richard Randall Studio in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha which marks the completion on her Residency at the Gardens. Tricia has made a mammoth effort this year and this beautiful show is a testament to all her hard work. Congratulations Tricia!

The second shock was the reversal of the Activity and Show and Tell as Kym who was teacher today had another engagement to get to. Thank you to Kym for sharing the “Tangent Bars” and “Stair Steps” binding techniques she learnt at the SLQ workshop by Keith Smith and Scott McCarney. And for the Minties, they were vital to the concentration required for these intricate techniques!

The post lunch Show & Tell was more of a Tell with only 3 Shows and a lot of discussion. Nat showed an amusing set of Pictorial Alphabet Cards & a set of beautiful Nick Bantock books. Lena shared her Gallery Girl collaborative journal. Maria & Lena had both visited the Qld State Library, Maria to view Artist Books, and Lena to look behind the scenes on the recent Open House. Marilena had attended the Finders Keepers market.

Christmas meeting: As well as our Secret Santa swap (something that fits in a decorated matchbox or similar-sized container), and a delicious Christmas lunch, we are having an ?Oldies but Goodies? show and tell. Many of our newer group members haven?t seen some of the many things we?ve done over the past 12 years, so please bring 2-3 of your treasures from the past, some of the books you?ve made that you really love.

We would also like to send all our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Carmel. Our thoughts are with you post Op.
