The regular troop of felters turned up to start the 2013 felting year – Robert, Pam TS, Vishnja, Glennys and friend Leith, Lili, Robin, Geraldine and Kathy L. We also had the pleasure of Pam Cornwell’s company.
As promised, Robert led another hat workshop. He talked about: stitching and the setting of pleats; felting along fold lines; flower cut outs; punches; embellishments; resists; ridges; hat stiffening; and all manner of pin and brooch embellishments. Thank you to Robert for this delightful introduction into his amazing world of millinery.
Kathy, Sandy, Vishnja and Pam TS then embarked on making hats in red, manganese, green and white respectively.
Geraldine was making a smoky amethyst diary cover.
Pam C started a grey/natural hat in alpaca and planned to have a knitted brim.
Glennys and Leith did some shopping and oggling at Robert’s work.
Some Fibre Fest entries were also delivered on the day.
QSWFA have been offered the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre exhibition space for the month of August. The only cost is a 25% commission. We should enthusiastically embrace this as it offers our members exposure without the effort of setting up the exhibition and no-one needs to be in attendance (the Community Arts Centre do all of that).
Fibre Fest was a big success – thank you to those felters who participated to make it the fabulous event that it was.
